Exam registration process for Private Candidates 

 Please note the October/November 2025 Cambridge registration process for Private Candidates will only be done online.

Please follow the steps below in order to register:

 

Application forms, registration dates and deadlines

There are four opportunities to sit IGCSE, International GCSE, GCE O Level and A-/AS-level examinations every year.
      • Examinations with Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) take place in May/June and October/November.
      • Examinations with Pearson Edexcel take place in January, May/June and October/November

When to register

The two examination boards have different registration dates. Registrations for the October/November 2025 examination series are now open. Normal registration period closes on 8 August 2025.
Please note: You may be able to register for exams after the registration deadline, but there are additional fees for late registration.
 

Step 1: Complete your registration form

My examination board is Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)

Step 2: Pay for exams

You can pay by cash deposit or bank transfer in Zambian Kwacha (ZMK) only into the account below using the monthly book-keeping rate which is published on our website here. Kindly note that the term "Bank transfer" used in this registration process as a payment option refers to both 'Bank-to-Bank' transfers and cash deposit into our British Council account. Your application will not be processed until you have paid for your exams.

Penalty Fees 

Each examination board has a normal registration stage for each exam session. You may still be able to register for exams after this date, but you will have to pay a penalty fee. You can find more information about late registration penalty fees on your exam registration form.

 

Keep your stamped bank deposit slip/proof of payment as you will need this to complete your exam registration.

Step 3: Submit your registration form

You have now completed and submitted your online registration form and paid for your exams. Please quote your reference number on your bank deposit slip.

The final step is to submit your supporting documents to the British Council. 

To do this, you will need:

  • One colour passport-size photograph. This must be taken within the past three months. 
  • A clear photocopy or scanned copy of your valid National ID Card, birth ceritiface or passport.
  • Your stamped bank deposit slip. Please make and keep a photocopy of this deposit slip for your records.

Submit all your supporting documents via email to info@britishcouncil.org.zm

Step 4: Registration complete

You have successfully registered for school exams with the British Council.

You will receive your Statement of Entry and information about your examination venues approximately four weeks after registration.
