Important information on COVID-19 for British Council customers and partners

Our offices remain closed to the public. We are sorry for the disruption this causes but the health and safety of our staff and customers are our top priority. While we would like to resume our operations, we will only do this once we are certain we have the equipment and systems in place to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 to an absolute minimum.

Following recent directives from the Zambian Government, the British Council has limited our operations with several restrictions in place until further notice. They are as follows:
Examination services
IELTS
FOR ALL IELTS TEST-TAKERS
Due to restrictions on gatherings imposed by the Zambian authorities and in the interests and safety of our test takers in light of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have decided to extend suspension of IELTS tests in Zambia until further notice. We are closely monitoring the situation and will recommence testing as soon as it is safe and permissible to do so.
All affected test-takers are eligible for a free transfer or refund by contacting us via email on info@britishcouncil.org.zm We hope to be able to update rescheduled test-takers on any potential new test dates soon

Professional and university exams
All British Council exams have been suspended until further notice while we monitor the situation. We will update rescheduled test-takers on any potential new test dates in due course. To protect the health of IELTS test-takers in light of Coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as to comply with Zambian Government Directives, IELTS exams are suspended in Zambia until further notice.
- The University of London has cancelled all written examinations that were scheduled to take place in April, May and June 2020. Students with queries to forward them to the university through their student portal or by using the contact us form on the University’s website.
School exams
Following announcements made by Cambridge, Pearson and Oxford on the cancellation of the May/June 2020 examination sessions, the examination boards will provide an update for both school and private candidates.
